Welcome
This is for those that are new to computers. Microsoft has designed this especially for those new to computers and for the power users there are many ways for you to set this up for your preferences. I will try to explain everything so that even the newbies will know how to setup and run the operating system for the best experience.
I have Beta Tested for Microsoft since Dec of 1997 with beta3 of Windows 98. I have since beta tested 98SE/Me and now Windows XP Home. This is as significant a upgrade as from Win3.x to Win95 was. This is because of the move from the dos kernal to the NT kernal. By moving to the NT kernal, it provides a more stable system. Also this is a move from a 16/32 combination to a pure 32 bit system, which adds to the stablity. The memory management is much better in XP. Progams that install on this system cannot access areas it is not supposed to like in Win9x versions. So that when application dies it CANNOT take the system down as in previous operating systems. MS has made sure that hardware manufacturers develope better and more reliable drivers. You can force driver installation but the system will warn of possibility of instability , as such this can cause crashes of the system. So if you force installation bewarned of this.
